Dority & Manning Associate Presents at U.S. Bar/JPO Liaison Council Meeting
On November 12, 2020, the U.S. Bar/JPO Liaison Council delegates conducted the 29th annual meeting with a delegation from the Japan Patent Office (JPO) lead by Deputy Commissioner Susumu Iwasaki. Due to COVID-19, the 2020 meeting was conducted virtually. Dority & Manning associate Ko Nakamura attended as a delegate of the Carolina Patent Trademark Copyright Law Association and gave a presentation updating the JPO on recent activities and initiatives at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Deputy Director Junsuke Senbon and Assistant Director Yusuke Higuchi of the Administrative Affairs Division gave presentations on Artificial Intelligence and 3-D printing as well as the Patent Prosecution Highway.
The U.S. Bar/JPO Liaison Council is an organization made up of delegates representing various IP bar groups across the United States. The Council meets annually to facilitate an exchange of information on IP law, IP practice and experiences of U.S. applicants at the JPO.
