Richard has been a Shareholder with Dority & Manning since 1988, and professionally involved with intellectual property law for over 26 years.
He has extensive background in prosecuting and managing both domestic and international patent and trademark portfolios.
Richard has been involved in all phases of litigation and counseling for patent, trademark and copyright matters including additional counseling areas such as licensing, negotiating, consultant and employee agreements, trade secret protection, and opinions, such as drafting infringement/non-infringement opinions, drafting validity analysis of patents, and rendering patentability opinions.
Prior to coming to Dority & Manning, he was an Examiner in the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in Industrial Electronics (involved specifically in electronic motor controls, battery charging systems, photocopying machinery, and electronic switches).
He was also an associate attorney (electrical and other prosecution for U.S. and foreign clients) at Cushman, Darby & Cushman in Washington, D.C.
