Experience:

  • Mackie, one of the founding partners of Dority and Manning in 1984, has practiced intellectual property law since 1965 in private practice and corporate environs, in all areas of intellectual property. 
  • He has prosecuted numerous patent applications, trademark and copyright applications; has rendered many opinions as to infringement or validity of patents and as to rights as to trademarks and copyrights; litigated patent, trademark and copyright matters; handled appeals in federal courts, and has given general counseling and advice to his clients. 
  • He has also served as an expert witness in numerous patent infringement actions and as a mediator in intellectual property matters. 
  • After receiving his degree in chemical engineering he worked as an engineer in synthetic fiber technology for three years before attending law school. 
  • After law school, he worked as a patent attorney for Monsanto Corporation in vinyl polymer, foam and packaging technologies and Deering Milliken Research Corporation in various textile technologies before beginning his career in the private practice of intellectual property law.
