Dority & Manning is proud to announce that James I. Burns has joined the firm.
Jay is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and is a member of the North Carolina Bar. He joins the firm from G.E. Energy where he served as a patent engineer involved in strategic development, product clearance and opinion work. Jay has also worked as a design/development engineer in the fields of telecommunications and industrial gas turbines. Jay served in the U.S. Navy in various technology-related capacities, and has been in the U.S. Navy Reserve for ten years. Jay earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University, and a J.D. from Campbell University. Jay’s practice will initially focus on preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications, as well as related opinion work in the mechanical and electromechanical arts.
