Alan is active in the local bar, currently serving as the President of the Carolina Patent, Trademark & Copyright Law Association where he has served on the Board since 2006. Alan also recently served as the Chairman of the Intellectual Property and Unfair Trade Practice Committee for the South Carolina Bar.  He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with Honors from the South Carolina Honors College.  Alan received his law degree from the University of South Carolina.

Jay is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and is a member of the North Carolina Bar.  He joins the firm from G.E. Energy where he served as a patent engineer involved in strategic development, product clearance and opinion work.  Jay has also worked as a design/development engineer in the fields of telecommunications and industrial gas turbines.  Jay served in the U.S. Navy in various technology-related capacities, and has been in the U.S. Navy Reserve for ten years.  Jay earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University, and a J.D. from Campbell University.  Jay’s practice will initially focus on preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications, as well as related opinion work in the mechanical and electromechanical arts.

Beth is a former Patent Examiner and a registered Patent Agent, with membership pending in the Maryland Bar.  Beth earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and a J.D. from the University of Maryland.

At the Patent Office, Beth examined applications in areas such as electric lamps and discharge devices (including plasma displays, liquid crystal displays, light emitting diodes, and organic light emitting diodes), x-ray and gamma-ray systems and devices, medical devices, optical waveguides, optical measurement and testing, and semiconductor devices and manufacture.  After leaving the Patent Office, she worked as a Patent Agent at an IP firm in Washington, D.C., in areas such as plasma display panels, liquid crystal displays, home appliances, and lighting systems.

Seth is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and is a member of the Georgia Bar.  His practice will initially focus on preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications, as well as related opinion work in the mechanical and electromechanical arts.  Seth earned a B.S. in Physics Engineering from Washington & Lee University, and both an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a J.D. from the University of Florida.

Allison is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.  Her admission to the South Carolina Bar is pending.  Her practice will focus initially on preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications in the biomedical, biochemical, chemical, electrochemical and mechanical arts.  Allsion earned a B.S. and an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as a J.D from Wake Forest University.
